ZPĚT NA ČESKÝ PROFIL

Radek Krampl was born on February 10, 1961 in Písek.

He is a student of the eminent European vibraphonist Karel Velebný. Graduated from Ježek’s Conservatory in Prague and also from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Currently he is a Profesor at Prague Conservatory, at the department of percussion instruments.

In addition to performing in Czech and Slovak clubs, TV, radio and festivals he has performed in Belgium, France, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Russia, Spain and the Great Britain. Further to performing jazz he also applies himself to classical contemporary music (cooperation with american percussionist Amy Lynn Barber, with Stamic Quartet) and Pedagogical activities.

  • 1987 Founder member of the Kontraband big band.
  • 1988-89 Performed with Milan Svoboda in duo and quartet.
  • 1990-94 Played in Jazzperanto with Jana Koubková.
  • 1992 A partnership with Jaroslav Svěcený (Euvropean tour).
  • 1991-93 Has performed with Štěpán Markovič’s Jazz Face.
  • 1992 to present has been playing in „ASPM“ of Jan Spálený.
  • 1992 Accompanied Tony Scott on his tour in Germany.
  • 1993 to present has been playing in Acoustic Set of Luboš Andršt.
  • 1996 to present is being a laedar of his own ensemble „Vibe Fantasy“.
  • 1997 Accompanied James Moody on MJF Praha.
  • 1998 to present Jocoes Jazz & Elena.
  • 1999 to present has been performig in duo with contrabass player Petr Dvorsky.
  • 2000 A series of concerts and recordings with Victor Mendoza and Jimmy Odgren.
  • 2002 to present Swing Quintet Prague.
  • 2005 A series of concerts and recordings with Stamic Quartet.
